Ashtangam

A Journey Through Kerala. A Journey Within.

Ashtangam

This Isn't a Retreat.
It's a Journey.

Ashtangam isn't about disappearing from the world for two weeks. It is about stepping into it more fully.

Over 15 days, we travel through Kerala rather than staying in one retreat centre — moving through its landscapes, traditions, food, sacred places and everyday life.

Different experiences. One journey.
Yoga is the thread.

Ajan Yogi in Kerala

Kerala Through Ajan

Where His Own Journey Began.

Kerala is not simply where this journey takes place. It is where Ajan's own journey began.

Born in Kerala, Ajan began studying yoga in 1993 and spent years immersed in traditional yoga, meditation, Ayurveda and the teacher-student tradition before his path eventually brought him to Spain.

Since 2015, he has also been creating Yogic Journeys through India. Ashtangam is his invitation to experience Kerala through the places, practices and living traditions that have shaped his own relationship with yoga.

For 15 days, he won't simply teach you. He will travel with you.

The Meaning of Ashtangam

Eight Dimensions. One Journey.

Ashta means eight. Angam means parts, limbs or dimensions. Eight ways of experiencing Kerala. Eight ways of experiencing yourself.

01

Yoga

Daily practice and teaching with Ajan. The thread that connects everything.

02

Meditation

Breath, quiet and guided practice that create space for attention.

03

Ayurveda

Traditional treatments and workshops rooted in Kerala's living wellness traditions.

04

Culture

Sacred places, communities and everyday traditions experienced with respect.

05

Nature

Mountains, forests, waterfalls and waterways become part of the journey.

06

Cuisine

Kerala's flavours, ingredients and food traditions shared around the table.

07

Art

Music, movement, craftsmanship and artistic traditions shaped across generations.

08

Living Traditions

Culture encountered as something lived — not simply observed.

Eight dimensions. One journey. Yoga connects them all.

The Practice

Yoga Is the Thread That Connects It All.

Yoga is at the heart of Ashtangam. But this journey is not simply about practising yoga.

For Ajan, the practice begins on the mat — but it doesn't end there.

Into the way we breathe.

Into the way we listen.

Into the way we eat.

Into the way we meet.

Into the unexpected.

Into everyday life.

Don't just practise yoga.
Learn to live it.

The Rhythm of the Journey

We Explore. We Move. We Rest.

Ashtangam is a journey through Kerala, not a stay in one resort. For much of the programme, we spend two or three nights in a place before moving on. During the final five days, the pace settles and we remain longer in one place.

Morning

Practise

Yoga, breath, meditation and a quieter beginning to the day.

Day

Experience

Travel, food, nature, sacred places, Ayurveda, culture and local life.

Evening

Reflect

Gentler practice, conversation, shared meals and space to simply be.

There is a programme. There is also freedom.
Ashtangam is an invitation, not an obligation.

A small Ashtangam group sharing the Kerala journey

The People You'll Share It With

Intentionally Small.

Ashtangam is created for a small group of 8–12 travellers. Some may come alone. Others with a partner, family member or friend.

There will be shared meals, conversations, quiet mornings and long journeys — while your personal space remains your own.

You do not need to be an experienced yogi, and you do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you are looking for.

Before You Join

A Few Things Worth Knowing.

Do I need previous yoga experience?

+

No. Ashtangam welcomes beginners and experienced practitioners. Ajan adapts the practice so everyone can participate at their own level.

Can I travel alone?

+

Absolutely. Solo travellers receive a private ensuite room, while the group remains small enough for connection to happen naturally.

How physically demanding is the journey?

+

You do not need to be particularly athletic. There are no heavy hikes or demanding treks, although some days include walking, stairs and exploring locations on foot.

Do I have to participate in everything?

+

No. The programme provides a structure, but it is not rigid. Rest when you need to. Explore when you want to. Ashtangam is an invitation, not an obligation.

Which airport should I fly to?

+

Cochin International Airport (COK). Arrival and departure transfers for the Ashtangam programme are included.

How do I reserve my place?

+

A 50% deposit secures your place. Once reserved, you will receive practical pre-trip information covering what to bring, what to expect and arrival arrangements.
